Windows Vista SP2 hangs for two minutes after logon before displaying Windows Desktop

I've just installed Blink Personnal on my Dad's Vista SP2 PC. Installation was fine and blink, updated and worked correctly and continues to do so.

After a reboot Pc is slow to display the desktop after the Vista login. I can see from the event viewer that Windows is failing a load eeyenv.sys file and from the event viewer times I can see the PC is waitng approx two minutes before this error occurs.

After the delay Blink seems to operate as it should

    Any Ideas would be welcome.

Yes I can confirm that too on my Vista Ultimate SP2 64 bit system.  I did not think much about it until you pointed it out.

     Hi,

Can you please stop Blink and from a command prompt type "net stop eeyen" followed by "net start eeyen"?

Please let us know the output of these commands.

Once in a great while.  I went ahead and ran the commands that you requested to be ran.  Both of them ran successfully (see screenshot#1.jpeg attached).

My issue is, when Vista boots up and comes to the Welcome screen it sits there for about two minutes before taking you to your desktop.  This does not happen if Blink is not installed.  Once your desktop shows, there is another two minute period of time (approximately) before the Blink icon even shows in your taskbar.  During this time your system is sluggish.

I plan to put Blink Server into debugging mode and then restart Windows.  Maybe upon restarting the system and then once the desktop is entered some useful debugging data can be gathered to as why things are so slow.  I will create a ticket for this and reference this post.

     Hi Laurentiu

I've run the net stop and start and look what I get.

    C:\>net start eeyen
    System error 5 has occurred.

    Access is denied.

Looks like a privilege issue, although the two user names we've tried it on are both administrators. I've also changed one of the users to a limited user and it doesn't make any difference. Look forward to you response.

Hi, you may need to launch the cmd shell using the Run As Administrator option. Let me know if that doen't work.

    Thanks!

Running the command prompt using "Run as Administrator" I get the following.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6002]
Copyright (c) 2006 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    C:\Users\John>cd\

    C:\>net stop eeyen
The eEye NDIS driver service is not started.

More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3521.

    C:\>net start eeyen
    System error 5 has occurred.

    Access is denied.

    C:\>

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does this throw any more light on the problem?

    Thanks

    Simon.

There is still a system protection not allowing you to start device drivers. Does an uninstall and reinstall of the product solve this issue?

This is very strange. Can you please install it once again and after reboot that takes a long time, send us the Windows Event System and Application logs?

Here is an article about the Vista Event Viewer: http://www.computerperformance.co.uk/vista/vista_event_viewer.htm#Launching_the_Vista_Event_Viewer

    Hi Laurentiu,

I've got the log files after the uninstall and re-install of Blink.

How do I send you the zip file?

    Thanks

    Simon.

You can send the zip file to him at lnicula@eeye.com.  Be sure to reference your post here so he can respond accordingly.

Does Blink 4.4.0 Beta still give you this issue also?

We received the logs and it appears one of the Blink Drivers fails to be loaded. I emailed you to continue the troubleshooting session offline.
