    Blink... and Torrents.

Heard some great things about Blink, and decided to remove avast and move over.

Now, I do a fair of bittorrent action on one computer, and Blink has been a bit of a pain.  I "allow" utorrent under Application Firewall, which seems to work OK.  However, every single IP address trying to connect to me I get the TCP connection warning.  I have to allow each and every one.  Now some torrents have 100's of connections, and I can't sit here all day and "Allow" each and every IP address.

Is there a way to make torrents run better?  Is there a "Rule" I can create.

Another question... when it asks me to either deny or allow there is a 30 second countdown before the default kicks in.  Is the default to allow?  Damn, even typing this I had blink pop up four times asking to allow or deny.  This can't go on.

    Can anyone help?

I just wish I could get it all deleted!!!!!!!!!!! It is not on my control panel, add remove programs.  When I try to individually delete the files they are protected and I can't even get them off my own computer.   This has eaten up all my resouces and caused me nothing but aggrivation since I downloaded it.

Any tricks to get this mess off my computer??????

    Thanks

Nothing to do with Torrents... but a good question none the less.

For uninstalling it cleanly, you will need to reinstall it, stop it and then uninstall it.

If you still want to get the protection it can offer without the alerts, I recommend to disable both firewalls and then take time to get accustomed with Blink. Read the manual, the forums and the knowledge base. You will still be protected by the Intrusion Prevention engine as well as the Anti Virus engine even if the firewall is off.

The rule for utorrent that was created under your Application Firewall, you could change it to allow both TCP and UDP both inbound and outbound if you want.  This may help, but you are opening yourself up to anything coming in from that program by doing this.  But with P2P programs like this, you are limited on your choices because of just this, the # of IPs trying to connect with you.

    Re: Blink... and Torrents.

    Hi,

I've just installed Blink and I'm having the same problems with uTorrent.  I've been to the application firewall and allowed both porotocols and in and out but I still get a popup for every IP address.

What am I doing wrong, I want to allow uTorrent, I understand I'm allowing it access but I can't get it to stop asking me for every IP address !!!

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

Laurentiu vom eEye had a good explanation for you Gadjet here: http://forums.eeye.com/forums/p/149/584.aspx#584

You have to understand what you are doing before doing it.

    Re: Blink... and Torrents.

    Thanks Serv,

I had a read and I think I've sorted it out but I really think it would be nice to have a wizard or something to use for particular applications that require settings across more than one firewall, including a warning of what level of risk there may be in allowing a programme the access it wants, to work as you want.

I just tried updating a web site with dreamweaver and had the same problem with loads of alerts, here we go again.........

    Cheers
