    Blink on MacBook

I have a MacBook with Windows Vista on a Bootcamp partition. I have a Parallels virtual machine set up but rarely use it. The last time I tried to run a virus scan in Vista booted from the Bootcamp partition it ran for 18 hours before I shut it down. It was scanning the Mac OS drive partition at the time. I have had some other problems with the latest version of Mac OS (Snow Leopard) and Windows and Blink.

Anyone have any experience with this type of setup? The virus scan is the most troublesome issue.

    Thanks.

    Hi pgohara

I havent personally tried this setup, but for the scanning issue you're seeing, can you confirm this still happens with Blink 4.4.1?

Also just to clarify, you're seeing this when running an AV Full System Scan? How does your Vista OS see your HFS+ partition unless you're using a 3rd party tool to allow Windows to read it in Bootcamp?

Let me know what you currently see and we can better help troubleshoot the issue.

    Thanks,

    Brian

    Re: Blink on MacBook

I am running Blink 4.4.1.2324. This happens during a full system scan. Vista is reading the Mac OS as an hfs system. I am not sure how.

I just installed the latest Mac upgrade, Snow Leopard and it has Parallels (virtualization software) installed on it. Parallels installs something called Tools on the Vista system and the Mac OS has updated all of the drivers for the Vista installation. Either of those could be causing the Vista OS to be able to read the hfs system. I have questions out to the Parallels folks and I will go back to Snow Leopard and look for clues.

During this whole process Blink realized my license was expired so I have purchased, reinstalled and reactivated Blink. However, I was having problems with slow scan times before I did any of this.  The scan times increased after the update to 4.4.1. At first it was just an 8 hour scan time but now it has gotten out of hand.

Does that help? What else might I look at. Any log files I that might help?

    Thanks.

Apple's upgrade to their operating system, Snow Leopard for the Mac, enables read and copy capability of the Mac volume from Windows running on the Mac under Boot Camp.

I ran a scan and excluded the Mac OS disk and just scanned my C: drive. It took 10 and 1/2 hours.
