I have updated the batch file to fix the errors. Please give it a try.

Tried following your directions twice.  First time after Blink apparently installed successfull, double clicked on Blink icon, mouse pointer began spinning, then nothing.  Blink did not run.

Second time tried to uninstall Blink using Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.  The CleanUp starter but never finished.  Attached jpeg file is a picture (Print Screen pasted into MSPaint) of what remained on the screen for about 30 minutes.  Blink never uninstalled.

Actually, I'd like to attach the picture but how is it done?  Can't figure out how do make the attachment.  The pictire displays the Windows Installer CleanUp window and the msizap.exe window.

Click Edit on your post and then at the top look for the "Options" tab.  The Add attachment button will be available for you there.

The only selections under Options are "Do not allow replies" and "Email me replies to this post".

There isn't a button right above those two that has "Add/Update" on it?  That is what you want, maybe it is because I have forum admin access, I don't know.

Try now, attaching was not allowed. Now it has been enabled for registered forum users.

With a little luck the print screen file is attached.

Re: Restoring Blink after upgrading to Windows 7 x64

I hate to say it, but the best way (easiest) is to go Back. After days of trying to fix Blink, I restored the Vista installation (I had mirrored the hard drive) prior to installing Win 7. I could then uninstall Blink 4.43 and install 4.5 and reinstall Win 7. Everything works and as a bonus even a few other broken programs also work.

This is another reason why I never buy "upgrades" for an Operating System.  There are too many complications that can arise from upgrading one OS to another and expecting that all your programs will continue to work.  It is best to buy the full OS, find your new drivers, and find a new copy of your programs that support that OS and then install everything from scratch.  The time it takes to do this is sometimes equal to the suffering you may go through during the upgrade process.

If eEye is unable to fix the problem so that Blink can become functional in Windows 7 without reverting to Windows XP, it seems that it will be necessary to purchase a competitor's application.

Let me know if you have a solution!

I have to admit that will be very difficult to craft a solution other than the one posted above in the thread (and updated recently). That one should remove Blink from the Programs and Features and then apply proper permissions on Blink's files so the new copy can be installed.

I can try however to help you through the process once I know exactly in which state you are right now. Can you please post some details?

Re: Restoring Blink after upgrading to Windows 7 x64

If by details you mean for me to say all applications except Blink are running normally after upgrade to Windows 7, that is exactly the case.  I have been running without Blink, i.e. no virus, spyware, etc...protection, since the upgrade.  All other details of my current situation are in my postings.

I find it difficult to believe that eEye is so lax in maintaining its software in a useable form.  If you can't fix it without reverting to Windows XP, let me know so I can buy something that works.

Re: Restoring Blink after upgrading to Windows 7 x64

By details I meant the steps you have followed with their outcome and a description of the current state.

If the Microsoft Cleanup tool is freezing, try running it in safe mode. Someone suggested using CCleaner but I personally have not used it and I cannot advise. The idea is that you cannot uninstall the old version using its own uninstaller (which is the case for version 4.4.3 on Windows 7 x64) to use other tools to remove it from the Windows programs and Features. This should allow you to install the new version on top of the old one.

Just in case, reboot your system and then follow these steps:

    1. Try to uninstall from Programs and Features (in case 4.5.0 is installed)

    2. Use MSI Clean tool (try safe mode if you experience issues with it)

    3. Follow instructions from this post: http://forums.eeye.com/forums/p/1155/5108.aspx#5108

Yesterday we have released the 4.5.1 release (not BETA) with support for Windows 7 x64. Download here: http://download.eeye.com/blinkpersonal
