Vista compatibility expected by the end of the year

We anticipate having support for Microsoft Vista by the end of the year.  Certainly it may come sooner, though.  We will keep everyone informed of our progress and will update everyone when a more specific timeline is available.  In the meantime, our current product requirements are:

    Blink Personal

    • Windows 2000 (All workstation versions)
    • Windows XP 32-bit
    • Windows Tablet PC
    • Windows Media Center

    Blink Professional

    • Windows NT4 (SP6 or higher)
    • Windows 2000 (All service packs)
    • Windows 2003 32-bit (All service packs)
    • Windows XP 32-bit (All service packs)
    • Windows Tablet PC (All service packs)
    • Windows Media Center (All service packs)

Will this include a version for 64 bit O/S? Do you need beta testers?

Re: Vista compatibility expected by the end of the year

64-bit OS support is being reviewed and scheduled separately.  It is still in its early stages of review, so for now we don't have a solid date to suggest but earliest might be the end of the year.  Certainly, we will keep everyone informed of any progress.

As for beta testers, we will likely continue offering beta programs as we have currently with the version 3.1 candidate already available.  The feedback that has been submitted by everyone is very much appreciated and helps us improve the product along with getting the changes and fixes out to everyone sooner than would be the case if left to wait on the final releases.

    Thank you.

Please offer sign-up option for Personal 3.1 Vista beta testers so that you will have us when ready.

I tried to install version 3.1.1.1631 but failed with Error 2378.

    Thank you!

I received a serial number for the Win XP version before I noticed that it didn't support Vista . Will I be able to get a new serial number for the personal edition of the security suite when it supports Vista ? I've heard great things about your products and I am really looking forward to trying it out .

If you are just using the free version of the Person Edition you can get free serial numbers as many times as you want via email by filling out the download form when you first attempt to download Blink.

Yep, I just got a new PC - didn't realise that it was 64-bit, so I'm back to AVG and Microsoft Windows Defender.

Anye news on Vista compatibility?  Is there a beta available?  I also heard great things about eeye from a friend, but our Windows computers are running Vista.

Please sooner rather than later! :)

I'm looking forward to BETA testing this one.

Re: Vista compatibility expected by the end of the year

I will be receiving a new laptop in a couple of weeks, and plan to move the license to it. However, it will have Vista home premium installed.

I appreciate that the Vista version will not be released for a few weeks. My question is: can I install the current version of Blink on the Vista laptop; that is, will it work fairly well, or will it not work at all?

If I should not install the current version on the Vista laptop, should I just download the new Blink and install it, or is more involved in transferring the license? Should I just dispense with transferring the license and just start over with the laptop?

    Thanks. Dennis

Since you need a licence for each machine, and each licence is free for one year, I would say start over with the laptop.  Of course, if you were to have to pay, I would say see if you can transfer the licence. :)

Thanks. What you said makes a lot of sense.

In the meantime, will the current Blink work at all on Vista, or should I not even try?

    Regards, Dennis

Strangely from checking here quite often I do not think I have heard of anyone trying... that said - since the engineers say it does not work I would take their word for it... at least I know I would not even bother trying...

    • Windows 2000 (All service packs)
    • Windows Tablet PC (All service packs)
    • Windows Media Center (All service packs)
    • 233 MHz or higher Intel Pentium II or compatible processor
    • 256 MB of RAM
    • 60 MB hard-disk space required for installation
    • Not yet compatible with Windows Vista
