User Account created by Blink in my Windows Startup

I believe Beta Personal created a "user account" in my Windows startup which requires that I click my own user account for Windows to startup. I donnot want that to happen, I just want my computer to start up without my sitting by my computer to click my administrator account which was the only one I had before Blink

This was one of the problems the BETA program uncovered and it will be fixed in the final version.

In the meantime, you can fix it by importing a registry file.

Save the following text into a file with a .reg extension and import it by executing it. After a reboot. the new user account should disappear.

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList]
    "BLINK_"=dword:00010000

I tried to save as a .reg file but I'm not sure I know what to do and I don't want to mess up my registry. Could you please be more specific?

    Thank you

I could not import as you suggested, but I manually added Blink_ at the key location specified, and with the value specified, and it worked fine!  It seemed that the reboot was slower after the change, but I did not measure it.

    geoclock,

Thank you for keeping us informed of your progress.  We assure you that the registry key change is unrelated to the slower reboot and is merely a coincidence.  Something else has changed causing this behavior.

For others that are monitoring this thread, this will be resolved with the final release of 3.1.  We are supporting an online upgrade of the 3.1 beta (differs with some beta programs that require its uninstall when the final release is available) and the same registry key change will be made during the update.  So, for those that may prefer to wait (maybe not comfortable modifying the registry), we anticipate the final 3.1 release will be at the end of next week.

    Thank you.

Thanks for the information. I've got the same problem in Blink 3.1 beta. Didn't notice it until I saw this thread. I'll just leave things alone until the final upgrade and let that take care of it. I'm dangerous when it comes to touching the registry.

    Charlie,

The official announcement of the final version 3.1 release (out of beta) won't be made until next week and will be posted to the "Announcements" section of the forum with proper release notes; however, in the meantime, the full installer is available for download from the following location:

    http://download.eeye.com/html/products/blink/personal/installer/blinkconsumersetup.exe

We would like to thank everyone that participated in the 3.1 beta program and for the submitted bug reports and feedback.  It has helped us evaluate and improve the final release during development and internal testing.

This has been released as a full installer only and will not be available via the online Auto-Update utility.  As promised, we do support an over-install of the beta which will allow you to keep your existing configuration; this differs in some beta programs that require you to uninstall it when the final build arrives.

After upgrading your installation to 3.1.1 (beta was 3.1.0), you should find that the user is no longer present.  Thank you.
