    Auto-Update of 3.1.1 Failing?

    Hi,

I am a new user of Blink Personal and I am not sure if my update experience is normal or not.  I downloaded and installed Blink 3.1.1 three days ago and then immediately ran auto-update which downloaded updates for Auto Update, Application Bus and Anti-Virus Engine, although I did not record to what version levels.

This morning I ran auto-update again thinking that the program would tell me it is up-to-date and I was a little surprised that it downloaded the same three elements again (but not the main Blink program thankfully).  I then had an information box summarising the update which had ticks against Auto Update v2.4.8 and Application Bus v2.3.2 but crosses against both Anti-Virus Engine v1.0.163 and Blink 3.1.1.

I am confused about what the crosses mean.  I know that I have Blink 3.1.1 installed so does the cross against it mean it was not installed because it was up-to-date already?  If this is true then does the cross against the Anti-Virus Engine mean that this was also up-to-date?  If the Anti-Virus was in fact up-to-date is it normal to download it again before finding out?

I am confused about what the crosses mean and would really like to know if I have the latest versions, and if my experience is normal.

    Thanks

I updated twice again last night, and I am now confident that I have a complete update.  During the first update the anti-virus engine downloaded and I finally had three green crosses and one red cross in the update summary box (the red cross was against Blink 1.1.1).  I then ran update again immediately and fortunately the anti-virus engine did not download and I had four green crosses in the update summary box.

I now have the following versions installed:  Blink 3.1.1 rule v1408; Anti-virus version 1.0.167; Vulnerability Scanner v5.8.4; Audits version 1693; Eeye Auto-update 2.4.8; and Ap Bus v2.3.2.

I am interested to know if anybody else has had trouble updating?

Do you mean crosses? or checkmarks?

I have updated daily - and get all green check marks

    Eeye Auto Update - 2.4.8
    App Buss: 2.3.2
    Blink AV Engine: 1.0.168
    Blink: 3.1.1

    Paris,

The red crosses you received do indicate an error of some sort.  If you were to highlight any of the product names, even when receiving all green check marks, additional text would appear with more information.  If this persists for you, let us know and we can review further with you.

    Thank you.

I think that we get the red crosses when the update server is down for some reason. It always happens when I try to manually update in the morning (Europe). Otherwise the auto-update works just perfect.

I agree with that - I bet most are hitting the server manually and its offline etc... becase normally if I was to get a Red X in the AM and try it a few hours later it is green then...

I think it's best to leave it on auto and just check once in a while if the numbers change.

My Blink Personal Edition isn't automatically updating either. I did a manual update but it was the same update I received from yesterday after initial installation. Norman Virus Control that BPE uses however, has been updated already today. A response from eEye would be appreciated on the matter. Everything is set properly for Automatic Updates. I had this problem with the last version as well.

I too am a new user. Everything seems fine so far but it will not auto update. Have to do this manually. Is there a bug involved here or am I missing something?

    Re: Auto-Update of 3.1.1 Failing?

    Some challenge at the moment:

eEye Auto-Update v. 2.4.8 - eYe Auto-Update: The server response for application update doesn't have the required structure.

Application Bus v. 2.3.2 - Application Bus: One o more dependencies of the current application failed to be updated.

Blink AntiVirus Engine v. 1.0.180 - Blink AntiVirus Engine: The server response for application update doesn't have the required structure.

Blink v. 3.1.1 - Blink: One o more dependencies of the current application failed to be updated.

Same basic set of problems have started with me. Tried everything to remedy it. No joy.

I will only chime in that after switching (under CONFIGURE) in the config properties of the updater... to: THE UPDATE SERVER FOR ALL APPS = https://update02.eeye.com/UpdateServer/ - from what it was set to - thou not by me..... where it uses corresponding servers for each app..

It is now updated with the following:

    Eeye Auto Update: 2.4.10
    App Bus: 2.3.3
    Blink Antivirus: 1.0.209
    BLink: 3.2.1
