Try to do a  Repair from Add/Remove programs and update it again.

Go to Add/Remove programs in the Controll panel, find the eEye Digital Security Blink and select the Change option.

Re: Blink becomes a not install service after update

I just booted my computer.  Before I signed in on the main Win XP Pro screen, a dialog box said a new update to Blink had downloaded and would take effect on next reboot.

Subsequently, Blink did not start automatically and would not start manually.

I got the message:   The Blink Service is disabled.  Please enable this service and re-start Blink.

I tried starting the Blink Service manually as it was default disabled.  Why, I don't know.  I got the message:  Unable to open service blinksvc for writing on Local Computer. Error 5:  Access is denied.

I was running 3.1.1.  Repair through add/remove programs does not work.  Stand alone update says I must update through the Blink program.

What is going on here and how do I fix it?

    Thank you!

     ---------------------------------------------

Edit:  OK, downloading 3.5 and installing it over 3.1 while keeping the license information intact seems to have fixed the problem.  Butjeez, what a crappy way to do an upgrade - and to add a user account?  Weak.

The update is a definate must - there is a fix posted here for the User acct issue - that masks the user acct - but BLINK does require a user acct to work properly...

I guess I'll find out the hard way because I deleted the user account.
