Update Failure - SyncIT task did not finish in 3600 secs?

    Update Failure - SyncIT task did not finish in 3600 secs?

    Hi,

     

    I have tried and failed twice to update Blink over a dial-up

    link.  After the Antivirus engine downloaded I get the message: 

     

    "Access Denied:  Update request is not permitted.  In order to update

    Blink interactively launch Auto Update from Blink's interface."

     

    However, when I try an Auto Update I get the message:

     

    "An instance of Auto-update is already running possibly the

    result of a scheduled update.  Please try later." 

     

    From the event error message reproduced below it seems

    that there is a 3600 second time out on a task, and if this

    is the cause of the failure then I have a problem with

    downloading the 11.1Mb antivirus engine over a relatively

    poor dial-up connection.

     

    Please can anybody help?

    Are you running Webroot Spy Sweeper?

    Thanks for your interest.  No I am not running Webroot Spy Sweeper.

    I tried to update again twice tonight (Central Eurpean Time) with the same result.  I looked at the error message against the red cross in the Update Window next to the Blink Antivirus Engine (1.0.241) and it says "Unexpected response from the website.  Check your proxy settings.  If the problem persits please report error to support@eeye.com.  Error Code: 12002.  Description:  The operation timed out"

    I am using dial-up and not connected to a Lan so the proxy suggestion is irrelevant.  I searched the forums on the error code and find that lots of people have the same problem and there does not seem to be a definitive reason, or answer.

     Can anybody help me please.

    There used to be a lot of update problems until we dramatically increased the bandwidth available for serving AV updates.

    The problem you are seeing may be related just to the speed of your connection. Can you please send the "c:\Program Files\Common Files\eEye Digital Security\SyncIt\debug_syncit.log"  file to lnicula@eeye.com to take a look at it?

    In trying to update yesterday I received the following message:

     Event ID: BLINK-ENG-601
     Severity: High
     Description: The Scheduler module enountered an error. Please send the following file to our support department: %CommonProgramFiles%\eEye Digital Security\SyncIt\debug_syncit.log
     Alert: No
     Error Message:

    SyncIt failed after 3 attempts

     

     

    I have tried again tonight and receive the same message 2 more times.
