eEye Blink Engine service won't start

    Hi all,

I get the following series of messages in the System Log (Windows XP Prof. SP2) upon installation with the "Start Blink" option checked.

    ---------------------

The eEye Application Bus service entered the running state.

The eEye Blink Engine service was successfully sent a start control.

The server {72BE86F0-39AC-4D11-A11A-E913E91C5A99} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

The eEye Blink Engine service entered the stopped state.

The eEye Blink Engine service terminated with the following error:
    %%2147746306

    -----------------------

Attempts to start Blink from Windows also fail, displaying an error message box, but those errors don't make it to the System Log file.

Please uninstall Blink and then reinstall the latest version. If this keeps happening let us know.

Re: eEye Blink Engine service won't start

OK I completely uninstalled Blink and then downloaded the Consumer executable again.  It says it's version 3.0.5.1479.  I installed Blink again without checking the "Start Blink" box.  The installation completed normally.  However, when I try to run Blink I still get an error message box saying, "The Blink service failed to start (0x435). For more information, please check the Windows event log."

The Windows event log countains these entries among others:

"The server {72BE86F0-39AC-4D11-A11A-E913E91C5A99} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout."

"The eEye Blink Engine service terminated with the following error:
    %%2147746306 "

     Thanks,

     Griffith

Re: eEye Blink Engine service won't start

I just purchased the Blink Professional Edition this evening and I am having the same problem.  I have uninstalled and rebooted my PC with no luck.  The error messages I am getting are:

Blink Service Failed to Start (0x45) - Check Windows Event Log.  When I check that, the Windows Event Application Logs, it says "Failed to open BlinkRM COM interfaces - error 80080005 - Server execution failed".   Looking at the Services tab, I'm getting eEye Blink Engine Service will not start in Services  Error 1053 - does not respond to start or control requests.  In the System Event Logs, it says "The Server ( string of numbers) did not register with the DCOM within the required timeout.  Any ideas about what to do now?

Just to amend my last post, when you purchase the Eeye Blink Professional on the Web site, it actually has you download the product from Digital River.  Looking at the application that downloaded, it said the version was v3.0.2.1451.  If that is the problem, please advise where to download a working version.

Re: eEye Blink Engine service won't start

Okay, it appears the version that you purchase online at Eeye.com (which is a download from Digital River) is a defective version that will not install correctly.  I tried downloading the Trial version from their Web site of the same product, and it did install correctly.  The trial version is v3.5.3.1733.  Eeye should remove the defective product from their Web site so users will no purchase that one,.

My next question is...How do I use the license of the defective product to get the Trial version to work fully.  I guess that is a question for my account rep.

Re: eEye Blink Engine service won't start

Thank you George for the helpful information you gave us. We will look immediately for this issue in order to fix it.

Regarding your question…First you should uninstall the old version of Blink from the Control Panel-> Add or Remove Programs-> eEye Digital Security Blink. During the uninstall, Blink will ask you if you want to remove the configuration information (if you have created rules and want to use them in the future you should choose NO, if you want to have a fresh image of Blink, you can choose YES).You will also be asked if you want to remove the license. In order to use the license for the trial version you must choose (NO) not to remove the license from the computer.
