    I noticed with the 3.0 and 3.1 beta that my sound icon is missing, the round grey one.  Windows XP Pro

    Did you happen to go back into the Sounds and Audio section in the Control Panel and check to make sure the show sound icon on taskbar box was still checked?

    No, it has always been on the task bar area, no need to "reconfigure" in my opinion.  Blink icon is also sometimes missing.  Yesterday both were ok, this moring I only have Blin, no sound icon.
