    Any uninstall problems?

I started a thread about Blink Persoanl in Wilders Security Forums and a few people have tried it so far. Some liked it some didn't, but one person claims you can't get rid of it after an uninstall as it stays on your Hard Drive and that people in this forum have also said this is true. I can't find where this is true and have never had any uninstall issues with Blink. Anyone know if this is really true? I have no reason to uninstall Blink as it runs so well, but this does worry we me if I ever have to uninstall it for some reason. If it isn't true maybe someone more knowledgable than myself could post that it isn't true in Wilders under the "Blink Personal Must be Getting Better" thread. Thanks.

I guess I could go to Wilders and defend Blink, but honestly without responses from someone with eEye about this, I don't see the point. I know it's only been a day, but In the Awil Forums for Avast there are quick responses and I know Avast uninstalls cleanly and  as I asked in another thread here about Blink, Avast also has self protection. Hopefully some responses will come soon. Thanks.

    Re: Any uninstall problems?

Most forums have "dedicated" people that the only job they have is to monitor the forums.  Unfortunately, with eEye, the folks that actually work on Blink (like "lnicula"; Blink's Team Lead) are the only ones that are able to respond to issues.  Keep in mind the actual Blink team is like only 4 people or so, very small group...other than the other folks that work on the QA process for Blink.  However, because they are a small team, they are busy working and can not respond to everything ALL the time like all the other forums.  The quickest support, honestly, will come to those that are using the Blink Professional version.  The reason being, you are able to access a customer portal where you can submit trouble tickets and such.  You normally receive a response qucikly this way.  The portal is launched from here:  https://www.eeye.com/clients/login.html?access=0&target=&rnd=080721.162821.421452.352

An example of this support is shown in this post by myself:  http://forums.eeye.com/forums/p/682/2885.aspx#2885

Blink started out as an Enterprise product, therefore, eEye does have to support its business customers first, which is understandable to me.  They are a small company and have to prioritize their support resources carefully.

Now as far as uninstalling Blink, I would recommend what I have in this post for a course of action:  http://forums.eeye.com/forums/t/689.aspx

This is purely my preferred way of uninstalling Blink.  I think there have been some isolated instances of issues uninstalling Blink, but not many that I have recalled hearing about.  I like to refer Ccleaner a lot to everyone, because of how well it cleans stuff from your registry and does not screw up your system when it does it.  Too many registry fixit programs really mess things up in the long run.  I have yet to have a problem with Ccleaner and I have been using it now for almost 3 years.

I have had blink installed on my computer for about a year and I have been unable to uninstall it.  Now it pops up asking for a  serial number whenever I boot up and I just want it to go away!

Well, if you really want to get rid of it, I would recommend what I said to this user.  You would want to follow steps 1-7 and you should be good then.  I am sorry you have not had positive luck with Blink.

    Re: Any uninstall problems?

Purchased 10 license Professional version pkg.  Tried to install on 2nd machine.  NEVER asked for a password to be set up.  Now wants a password to start software.  Contacted eeye and they sent directions how to reset the password, but the instructions don't match what shows on the screen.

    Directions follow:

    1. Log in as Administrator
    2. Open the c:\Program Files\eEye Digital Security folder
    3. Right click on the Blink sub-folder and select Properties
    4. Select the Security tab
    5. Click Advanced and select the Owner tab
    6. Select Administrators, enable the “Replace owner on subcontainers and objects” and click OK
    7. Close the Properties dialog
    8. Repeat steps 3 and 4
    9. Select Users and check the Full control Allow checkbox
    10. Close the dialog and copy the exe file into the Blink folder.
    11. Run the tool SetAdminPswd.exe <new password>
    12. Run Blink and insert the new password.

I AM the administrator for the laptop.  NO Security tab in Properties.  Cannot uninstall because needs a password.  Cannot change name because it needs a password.  Cannot follow directions because they don't match the screen display.  Tried re-installing, but no change.

I like the product, BUT WHY DOES IT DEFAULT TO A PASSWORD W/O OPPORTUNITY TO SELECT ONE?

    Any help appreciated.

You likely see this issue on XP home. Please let support know that and they will let you know the right steps

Definitley, I can vouch for the support eEye gives you.  It has been nothing but great service for me!  Since you have Blink professional you are provided support via their customer portal:
