    Renewing subscription

    Hi all,

I got an email last week saying I quote " If you have already taken care of your renewal with eEye Digital, please disregard the last e-mail. Thank you for your understanding" ... I never got the original email but assume my subscription is up for renewal.

I tried logging in to my account but the password is apparently invalid, I requested my password be sent to my email address but nothing arrived. I emailed the customer relations manager who sent me the above message but have heard nothing in the past week.

Should I just setup a completely new account ? I don't seem to be having much luck with my current account.

    Cheers

    Dave

    Re: Renewing subscription

Just to make sure, are you using Blink Personal or some other eEye product?

Blink Personal users do not have accounts with eEye and you can extend your protection by purchasing another serial number directly from the eEye.com store.

Re: Renewing subscription -- what is the PRICE for two (or three) systems?

I have Blink Personal and the taskbar tooltip says that my subscription will expire in 13 days.  I'm pleased with Blink and of course want to purchase my first Upgrade.

The "Products > Blink Personal Edition" page offers:  "BUY ONE FOR $25"  and "BUY THREE FOR $30"

Since I have a laptop and a desktop, I clicked the "BUY THREE.." button. But on the Shopping Cart price for three assets is $34.95 --- not $30.  I'm concerned that somehow you have neglected to check these for consistincy.

Actually, I checked the prices a few months ago, and you offered a "BUY TWO.." choice (for less than$30 as I recall).

So I'm confused. Can I get a two-system license? If so, what is the price? If not, what is the price for three?

    Thank you.

Well from my understanding, they have tweaked prices a little bit.  They are probably getting a lot more business now, so maybe they are trying to get a few more dollars or something...I don't know.  I do know at one time they offered Blink Professional (single licenses) for $29.00 and then now it is back to you can only buy 10 of them at one time.  I did send in a complaint and I received a response saying that would be changed back to one license for $29.00 again...I have not seen this change yet though.  I know numerous people, that if they changed it back to $29.00 for one Blink Professional license, they would glady switch to it instead of Personal Edition.  I can tell you, it is well worth it!  I get prompt attention in my user support portal and anything I need they are helping me with.

Bought 3 licenses -- Cannot apply them, Cannot install ver 4.0.1 -- Help!

    Thanks Blue for the info!

I just purchased the "3 assets" license but my order confirmation email has only ONE license (serial) number. Is this right? Furthermore, I cannot install ver 4.01, and the license number is not accepted by the current version: 3.5.8.

I have XP PRO, SP3.  What happened:

    1) Purchased the 3 licenses and downloaded BlinkPersonalSetup401.exe  per the "Order Completed" page,

    2) Closed applications,

    3) Ran BlinkPersonalSetup401.exe to install, accepted the defaults,

    4) The progress bar indicate sthat a successful install is in progress,

    5) Then the bar then reverses its direction -- "unwinds"

    6) Get Error 26505. You must reboot before installing again,...

    7) Reboot, repeated steps (3 )- (6) -- always end with same failure -- about 5 times

    8) Gave up on installing ver 4.01.

    9) So I tried to enter the serial number in the currently installed version (3.5.8). It required a few attempts before the current version seemingly accepted it. IOW Blink finally started again. But I don't know how to determine whether Blink has actually accepted my new  license/serial number. Where is it indicated that I have a licensed copy?

The top 2 lines in the Event Log might be a clue:

       Information : License error    8/12/2008 1:59:01 AM
       Event ID:  BLINK-ENG-11
       Severity:  High
Description:  Blink encountered a license error
       Cause: Invalid License.
       Alert: No

So I suspect that the "Serial Number" is actually bogus for 3.5.8. And I don't know how to determine how many days before my liscense runs out.

    10) Once again, I repeatedly ran Ran BlinkPersonalSetup401, steps (3) - (6) . Same Error 26505. Fail reboot fail reboot fail reboot fail....

Blink's liscense and install process is definitely not ready for prime time. I don't know what to do next.

Solved the Error 26505 installation problem

    OK, Got a solution.

I found this helpful solution by Inicula on the Troubleshooting forum: http://forums.eeye.com/forums/t/591.aspx#

            Please try these steps:

           1. Run this command: del %WinDIR%\System32\drivers\eeye?.sys
           2. Run this command: del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\Blink.lnk"
           3. Delete these registry keys:
             1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\eEye
             2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\eeyeevnt
             3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\eeyeh
             4. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\eeyet
             5. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\eeyen
             6. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\blinksvc
         4. Restart the system
    ....

         7. Delete the C:\Program Files\eEye Digital Security\Blink folder

Rather than do the ownership thing described steps 5 - 6, I booted in safe mode and deleted the eEye folder directly and also the link in the Startup folder. I ran CCleaner afterwards few times to clean the registry of many eEye keys. At this point, Blink has essentially been removed from the system.

I was then able to run BlinkPersonalSetup401.exe and achieve a successfull installation.

Note. Because (almost?) all traces of the previous version are deleted from the registry and Program Files folder, previous setttings, rules, etc, are lost. Not a big deal. But this has been a considerable effort and waste of time just to apply a license. And I do not know what the state of registration is. There seems to be no way to find out.

Re: Solved the Error 26505 installation problem

Regarding licensing status and the Error 26505 resolution described above, I received a very helpful email from licensing@eeye.com. I had assumed that when I deleted the eEye registry keys and program folders I had lost one of the three licenses I purchased. Not so. Here's the correct explanation:

"As long as all the registration was being done on the same machine it would not invalidate other licenses as it is based off the machine code of the system which does not change even if you do install multiple times."

This method, of course, preserves your licensing status even if you have to do a re-format/re-install. Good news.

Another bit of info about licensing status and expiration, which may also be of interest:

"If Blink starts up without complaining about a license issue, the product is licensed.... Blink expires a year from the date of purchase of the product."
