    Firewall rules not taking effect

I have had this happen to me twice in the last two days. It would seem that the firewall rules that I have would not take effect. I would test this by unchecking the rule for firefox, and connections would still be allowed without Blink's firewall asking for it. After a reboot, the rules seem to be working fine.

There is another user on my network who was experiencing a far bigger problem like this. It would seem to happen constantly; even after a blink repair or a reinstallation. Once new rules were created, questions from the firewall would pop up. But eventually new programs that needed the internet would NOT be asked.

I have reported this as a bug to eeye in more detail, but I am wondering if other users are experiencing this? Is this a Blink problem? This problem seemed to have occured right after the newest update, which was about a week or so ago.

Are you experiencing this issue with Blink Professional or Personal Edition?

By any chance were the rules that were being created each time the same application simply using a different port each time there was a new alert?

I have had this issue myself with Blink Professional also.  I have had to either restart Blink or as you stated restart the system.  Obviously this is a bug and I can confirm the same issue on my end.  I will probably submit a ticket myself in my Client Portal and reference this posting.

As for the first question, no I don't think so. The port numbers didn't change. Basically after a reinstallation the user would run their programs and they'd get questions that they would normally get. After a reboot, they'd try a new program to cross the internet, but there was no questions asked.

Well I'm glad to know that this isn't just our problem. So far we haven't had anything happen today. There is also a new Blink version that we just updated.

Re: Firewall rules not taking effect

Sometimes I must shut down Blink (enterprise) and then start it back up again in order for the rules to be recognized. But, it seems to depend on the application. If I delete certain rules Blink will immediately pop up a window asking me what to do. In other applications (like my email server SMTP application), Blink won't ask me anything. I must restart Blink and/or restart my email server in order for Blink to start asking about ports, etc.

It looks like that I am still having this problem as well as the other people on my shared network. This seems to occur once a day, and to fix it I restart. I was told to try uninstalling spybot but that didn't work.

I hope that this problem can be fixed soon in the next update.
