At apparently random intervals, Blink begins to block all DNS packets while I am on the Internet. I have seen that this is an issue "on extremely busy systems" that has been resolved, but on my system, busy or not, it still happens from time to time. Sometimes it happens from the get go, other times I have done a number of tasks (picked up the mail, updated Blink Personal, logged in across the VPN etc) and suddenly names become unresolvable.
The firewall and system wide rules allow for this traffic, and I have even added the specific DNS server IPs to the trusted list, and moved FW Rule 50000 to the top of the FW rules list. So the rules seem to allow DNS resolution, but every so often they are violated and Blink stops these packets. (I can see on my packet monitor that my system is making outbound DNS queries, but all the inbound packets are stopped)
At first I had to resort to rebooting the system to get going again, but over time I found I could disconnect the ethernet cable, disable firewall protection briefly, re-enable the FW and then reconnect and normal functionality would be restored.
Does anyone have a theory on what is happening with Blink Personal in this regard? Or even better, does anyone have a stable fix for it?
