Thanks for your response ... I have installed the downloaded version of 4.1.3 on a Windows XP laptop and it works just fine ... my experience was always fine in Windows XP.
I ran CCleaner to clean out temp files (I like to be tidy) and then to clean out my registry. I ran CCleaner to clean-up my registry 3 times to remove all residual muck.
I then disabled the Windows Defender service ... just to be sure ...
Next I uninstalled Windows Live OneCare ... all OK. Then a strategic reboot. I re-ran CCleaner and there was nothing to clean-up in the registry after uninstalling.
I tried to install BLINK Personal again ... ran through the install process as expected ... the BLINK Control Console popped up, displayed "Blink Services starting ...", then
"Intializing Protection engines..." . BLINK then was actively using my hard drive, ... left it for 5 minutes to overcome any personal impatience ... the clock in the Task Bar had "stopped" ... the cursor failed to move .. the laptop was certainly all locked up again.
I did a forced shutdown, then a reboot ... entered SAFE MODE to restore to before the Windows Live OneCare uninstall ... alll is OK Now, but I still cannot install BLINK in a Vista Business SP1 environment. I'm had an old laptop running BLINK Personal on Windows XP for more than 1 year, and I want it for my new laptop but I am stuck with the the Windows Live OneCare trial licence ... yuck.
What is going on ????
