    Outlook Email

Blink has started blocking my default email address downloads in Outlook. I believe it was after the 4.2 upgrade. There is no log entry for whatever it is doing. It allows all other emails (2 other pop accounts and some hotmail accounts through connector). The way I determined this was that it started working after I turned OFF the Intrusion Prevention. Any ideas or suggestions.

Make sure you have off, go into Blink turn the firewall and IPS "Passive" mode on.  See if anything is logged that says what was allowed that you may not have a rule for.  See if that helps for a starter.

P.S. make sure you turn the Passive mode off after your done. :)

What kind of  email account is it? POP3? IMAP?

Also on which port is the traffic going? Can we get a free test account on that server to test it out?

What ISP are you using as your mail server?

The account is Pop3. Pop traffic is on Port 110. Incoming mail is on mail.ctc.net Can't say about test account on the server, belongs to ctc.net (windstream.net)

I have another pop3 account that goes through that same port (different pop server) just fine.

I tried "passive" mode. I didn't get anything. No entries in event log.

I also find version 4.2.0 is suddenly blocking inbound email (on two machines - both running Outlook 2003).  Only solution I have found is to disable all Blink function.

    Re: Outlook Email

I report the same problem with Outlook 2007.  My inbound email was blocked (but not outbound) immediately after the Blink 4.2 update.  My ISP is Roadrunner, incoming POP3 on port 110.  I turned off Intrusion Prevention on Blink's Quick Configuration menu, and then my mail came in.  Then I went looking on this forum.  I see others having the same problem.  Any recommended fix yet?

    Re: Outlook Email

Try this once to see if you can narrow it down which rule set may be causing issues.  Go into the Intrustion Prevention section of Blink.  Start by going under the "Signatures" tab section.  Uncheck each section of rules one by one and try downloading your mail after each one.  See if you can find a particular section of rules that may be affecting your mail.  If after you find a section that is causing this, open up the section and then disable each individual rule under that section until you pinpoint the exact one that is causing the issues.

You may also try this under the Analyzers tab section too, however, I doubt that is the issue.

I have the same issue.  It only seems to happen when my inbox contain one or more emails that are large.  In my case that is usually a friend sending a humorous movie attached.  It appears (though no way for me to be certain) that it downloads the movie then fails to finalize the reception.

This is not a first for Blink.  The exact same thing happened a year or so ago.  Blink doesn't come out on the forum and tell us what happened.  All they mentioined the last time was to run the update and the issue will go away and it did.

    Thank You,
    John

I did the "Signatures" thing and came up with nothing. However, the Web Site Blocking and Peer To Peer sections are unchecked. I don't think I left them that way. Should those two signatures section be checked (enabled)? I will try the Analyzers later.

By default the Website and Peer-to-Peer section are not checked.  They are purely preference for those that wish to block these items or allow them.  It seems Nicula is trying to find out more from someone else at this post too about it:

    Re: Outlook Email

I have the same problem with Outlook 2003 with  roadrunner. The only reliable way to download messages it to put blink into ISP passive mode. I even tried turning off the passive mode but unchecking all the Instusion Prevention and Iidenity theft rules and it still didn't work.

Thanks for the info on the website and peer-to-peer sections. I am having another problem that may be related. I am getting constant pop ups apparently caused by my printer. It is in the "snmp servers" category, "default community string" is the name, and the description is "An snmp client supplied a default community". When I turn off Intrusion Prevention it goes away. I don't think I changed anything in the Signatures but I sure do see it referred to in the Signatures.

    Re: Outlook Email

I too have the same problem with Blink blocking my RoadRunner email downloads in Outlook (Version 2002). I have no problem with the 4.04 version, but after the auto 4.2 upgrade, the only way I can get my emails is is to turn off the Intrusion Prevention. I too would like some ideas or suggestions on this subject.
