I have Blink Personal.

EEye Auto Update 2.4.23

Application Bus 2.4.2

AntiVirus Engine 1.0.582

Blink 4.23

Installed on home computer running XP Pro SP3, always on, with dsl.

I have Blink set to do a daily update and full scan when I sleep at night.

Once or twice a week I initiate a defrag using Ultimate Defrag 2008.

Prior to running the defrag, I initiate Blink to check for updates.

I notice a few times the past couple of months, that when I manually update Blink there is a large download. Today one part of the download was 29.9 MB.

That seems a large update considering Blink setup.exe is 58.9 MB.

Also seems a large update considering on Jan 16, just five days ago Blink updated to 4.23.

I wonder what the 29.9 MB update was all about. There is no mention on the forum of such updated released. And such large updates have happened a few times in the recent past.

Another thing I notice which I consider a defect in Blink update process is that I can manually check for updates and when finished, check again and again and again and Blink downloads and installs the updates repeatedly.

So my question---WHAT IS GOING ON HERE??

How to know if I am updated or not, when I have Blink set to check updates on daily basis?

Would I have more peace of mind if the forum had a daily announcement of the update number, so I could double check and verify?

Does not eEye release daily updates to virus definitions? Or am I incorrect to assume so?

Are you referring to the small 337B that you see that gets downloaded for each sub-section of Blink everytime you manually do an update?  This is probably a small verification file that is pulled down each time (sort of like a hash comparison file) that is compared to what you have installed on your system at that time that ensures you have the latest updates installed.

I am sure eEye can explain this better than I can.

 Agreeded - totally normal since day one...

BLINK just is differnet than other types of Security Software... there are little differences like how it updates etc that most all of us here have shown concern about only to be assured that we are all still fully protected.
