    Virus Scan Report

    Hi

I am currently running Blink Personal 4.4.3 trial version on Windows Vista Home Premium SP1.

When running a Virus/Spyware Scan (whether On Demand, Quick or Full) Blink does not generate a report.  When choosing 'View The Last Scan Report' I get a box saying 'No Virus and Spyware Protection report exists'.

This happens despite the fact that it found 4 suspicious files.  These were only logged in the Event Logs.

Vunerability Assessment Scan works and produces a report and there are 3 related files in the reports folder:

    ScanResults.html / ScanResults.xml / ScanResults.xslt

There is only 1 file in the reports folder relating to Virus/Spryware Scan:

    MalScan.xslt

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Blink Personal Version 4.4.3, Rule version 1550
    AntiVirus Version 1.0.824
Vulnerability Scanner version 5.10.18, Audits version 2155

Is this still an issue?  I would try by resetting Blink's settings to default (under the Tools menu I think) or try installing a fresh download of Blink.  I think this is the first time this issue has been reported ever (to my knowledge).

    Thanks for your reply Blue1978

Yes, it is still an issue!

I have only ever used it with default settings!

I uninstalled Blink, deleted all registry entries, rebooted and downloaded/installed the latest version!

All I know is it cannot be a problem with generating a report on my system as I get a 'Vunerability Assesment' report every time.  It is only the 'Virus/Spyware' report that fails.

As my subsription/trial will end in about 10 days I have to consider an alternative to Blink.  I DO NOT WANT TO DO THAT, but I need to have some faith in a product or get this problem solved if I am going to purchase it.

    AntiVirus Version 1.0.829
Vulnerability Scanner version 5.10.18, Audits version 2159
    Subscription will expire on 24/11/2009

    Re: Virus Scan Report

Under the Antivirus program section, if you click on View last report, what do you see?  A blank page, anything at all?

I would recommend that you do the following:

    1.  Create a folder or something with some files in it that you can scan.

    2.  Temporarily disable all modules in Blink (except the Antivirus/Antispyware module).

    3.  Go into the Antivirus/Antispyware section and select the custom scan and configure it to target that one folder only to scan.

    4.  Go to this KB article and follow it starting with step #1 of "Step B".

When you have gathered the logs, send them to lnicula@eeye.com  and bpatten@eeye.com .  Be sure to include a link to this forum post so that they may respond accordingly.

    ===========================

    Nicula,

Do you have any ideas on this?

     Hi Blue1978

Your first question: When choosing 'View The Last Scan Report' I get a box saying 'No Virus and Spyware Protection report exists'.

OK, this is what I did:

Disabled all modules except Virus & Spyware Protection

Selected 'Custom Scan' and disabled the following: (Scan Boot Sectors / Scan Removable Storage / Scan Memory / Scan Archived Files)

Limited 'Deep Disk Scanning' to 1 folder

    RESULT: I GOT A REPORT

But why does it not report on 'Quick' & 'Full' Scan?  I am lost!

p.s.  I did not get the link4.  Go to this KB article and follow it starting with step #1 of "Step B"

    Many thanks

Sorry, I fixed my post and added the link for you.

I will try my Blink 4.4.3 and see if I get one.  But to answer that, I don't know, eEye would have to explain.  I do know that when you do a "On Demand" scan (i.e. you right click on a folder or file and tell Blink to scan it) only one window will be shown as it scans.  This same window will be your final result screen, so no report will show for this type of scan.  Let me try the other scans and I will get back to you.

My ONLY "assumption" is that for those two scans, Blink is not going to show you something, unless it finds something malicious in nature.

Actually that was the first part of doing the debugging process (which was explained in the link I forgot to give you) so in reality you did not need to do that (other than for debugging). :)  Since you got a report for the Custom scan, you will not need to do all those debugging steps for that type of scan, because it is working properly.

Alright, results are in.  I do get scan reports after scanning in those two modes, so there is something going on with your system that is different.

    Nicula,

Do you know of anything this user can do to address this issue?
