    Saving Blink's Settings

    Locked Reply Contact
    For anyone interested in saving your settings in Blink, go to the "Config" file folder (inside Blink's main program file folder) and save a copy of the Machine.xml file. Anytime you wish to restore this settings simply drop this file back in replacing the current one to restore your settings. Make sure you shut down Blink and its services before you do this to keep from having any problems afterwards.

    Re: Saving Blink's Settings

    Blink also offers a user interface option to do the same which is, just as Jeffrey suggests, simply exporting the machine.xml file which saves the user's changes to options, rules, and individual module status.  This can be accomplished from the Blink menu as follows:

    To export:

    1) File -> Export -> Export Active Ruleset ...

    2) Provide an arbitrary name and save to desired location.

    To import:

    1) File -> Import

    2) Select the XML file exported earlier

    Of course it can also be accomplished just as Jeffrey suggests; however, the benefit to doing it through the GUI is that Blink does not need to be shutdown entirely as the files are read in during the import.

    Christopher, and what does "File --> Export --> Export to Central Policy" exactly do?

    Re: Saving Blink's Settings

    This is an option that will be available only in Blink Professional as it applies to our Enterprise customers that will also integrate our central management solution, REM Events Manager; in Blink Personal 3.1 a pop-up will appear mentioning this when you select it.

    Via a "central policy" available from REM Events Manager, this provides a single interface from which the administrator can manage the configuration of all of the Blink (Professional) agents deployed throughout the company.  You can certainly create a new policy from within REM Events Manager; however, for those that might have preferred the Blink interface over the web front-end of REM Events Manager, we offer a way to export the ruleset created from the stand-alone Blink agent to then import within REM Events Manager.  Then, that configuration can be applied to multiple Blink (Professional) agents that subscribe to that policy.

    Hope this helps.
