    Vulnerability Assessment scan never completes (Blink v 4.1.4)

    Hey all. About a week ago (approximately the same time Blink asked me to restart the computer to initiate the latest update/upgrade), I noticed that the Vulnerability Assessment scan never completes. Since then it has yet to give a final report. I end up cancelling it every time.

    I thought that was an old issue. Any ideas how to fix this?

    I'm seeing the same thing, and have a post started for it in the General forum as well. I'm on 4.1.4, Rule 1463. AV version 1.0.516 [or whatever the current update ].

     Removal and reinstallation did not resolve. Rebooting multiple times doesn't resolve. I've got a computer I need to deploy to my church that I cannot do until this is addressed. Someone from Tech Support please respond!

    Hi,  

    Please send us the most recent file in this folder "c:\Program Files\eEye Digital Security\Blink\Scanner\Logs\"  to blink.debug@eeye.com

    Also send the "c:\Program Files\eEye Digital Security\Blink\Reports\ScanResults.*" files if they exist.

    Changing subjects: anyone know why I don't get an email message from this forum when a reply is made to a thread? My settings are correct, but I never get a notice. I have to come back to check. It's a hassle.

    It seems that incorrect registry permissions can cause this issue.

    This command will reset registry permissions to their default state and might solve this issue:

    SECEDIT /CONFIGURE /CFG "%windir%\Security\Templates\Setup security.inf" /DB WAISAW.SDB /VERBOSE /AREAS REGKEYS

    However, use this on your own risk. Here is a page describing the tool:

    I tried the suggestion of redoing registry perm's, with no joy.  However, in so doing, I found that the command resulted in a couple of strange error messages, so I ended up doing two things. 1) Blew the system away again, which since it was a new config, wasn't as painful as it could've been, and 2) used the installer executable distributed after the recent bru-ha-ha with the auto update causing issues [ http://forums.eeye.com/forums/p/798/3406.aspx ].

     This seemed to work well, and allowed for the vulnerability assessment to complete.  I'm all ears for any other suggestions, and will post again if the autoupdate to the current versions of all of Blink Personal's components causes the same issue afterwards.

     I also tried the fix with no joy.Really don't want to blow the system away if I can help it. Any other suggestions?  bobby
